Environmental Commitment
Today, and for several years now, certain issues have been at the heart of public concern, and some are particularly important to us. That is why, at our level, we want to contribute to a better future for our customers, our partners, and ourselves. We have committed to supporting various organizations and associations.
Suppliers
Some of our products cannot be manufactured in France or even in Europe. Therefore, we carefully select our suppliers in order to minimize our environmental impact.
First, we ensure that our suppliers source from sustainably managed forests. We also promote the use of bamboo or biodegradable materials. In addition, we choose rail transport whenever possible to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Whenever we can, we choose French suppliers. This is notably the case for one of our Orinko activated charcoal ranges, made from beechwood sourced from forests in Burgundy.
Reforestation Program
We donate 1% of our revenue to the Zero Deforestation initiative (led by the ARUTAM association and Latitud Sur in Peru). The goal is to contribute to reforestation at our scale through our donations.
More concretely, planting one tree costs €3, and each tree is monitored for five years.
Carbon Offset Program
Our Orinko bamboo activated charcoal is 100% carbon neutral thanks to Climate Partner. We support the Plastic Bank project, which:
- Fights plastic pollution in our oceans
- Encourages the creation of recycling ecosystems worldwide
- Promotes responsible economic development in disadvantaged communities
Packaging and Product Conditioning
Regarding our product packaging, the most fragile items are packed in cardboard boxes. For this purpose, we have selected recycled and recyclable cardboard. The printers we work with are FSC-certified and use vegetable-based inks.
It is important for us to work with partners who share our environmental values.
Some of our products are packaged in small reusable fabric pouches. These protect your products during transport in durable, reusable packaging. This is notably the case for our Orinko tongue scrapers.
All our other products are packaged in small recyclable kraft paper pouches.
In general, our products are packaged by our local partner, who promotes employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
Social Commitment
As a committed company, we want to go beyond environmental responsibility alone. That is why we believe it is also important to have a strong social commitment. Since the creation of our company, we have worked with a local ESAT (a French work assistance establishment for people with disabilities).
An ESAT is an establishment and service providing assistance through work which, since 2005 in France, has been supporting people with disabilities with the aim of integrating or reintegrating them into society and the workplace. The jobs at the ESAT are varied, but we mainly work with them for the packaging of our products. The vast majority of our products, such as ceramic beads and activated carbon, are packaged there.
